— The vendor question

You are about to point NDA footage at software from a company you have never heard of. Fair. Here is who builds it, why it exists, and how to reach an actual human.

— Why I built this

The farm was
already here.

Apple used to ship a distributed encoder called Qmaster. If you ran a post room in that era you remember what it felt like: every Mac in the building rendering as one machine. Then it was folded into a single-box Compressor and quietly discontinued — and the industry's answer since has been the cloud. Upload your footage, pay by the minute, wait for the download.

That answer never sat right with me. Post facilities already own rooms full of fast machines that sit dark half the day. The footage is already on the SAN, under NDA, behind a firewall it should never cross. Encoding is the most parallel job in the building. What was missing wasn't hardware — it was the coordinator.

TRNSCODE is that coordinator: a master service and a worker fleet that turn machines you already own into the farm you were told to rent. Nothing uploads. Nothing meters. Deliverables ship with verification evidence instead of hope. The fastest encode pipelines used to belong to whoever could afford them — I built TRNSCODE to end that.
